When you purchase this cover, you will receive the following:
- an exclusive lifetime license to use your purchased cover for any and all purposes. RCS retains the copyright for the cover, but your purchase gives you unrestricted use in all digital formats and platforms, in perpetuity;
- two (1900 x 2700 px) cover files in JPG and WebP formats, suitable for DIGITAL (ebook) book covers only;
- if your individual cover files are over 5mb in size, you will receive additional, slightly smaller files for publishing on platforms that require them;
- up to 3 blocks of text or other elements, in addition to your book title and author name, displayed on the cover (these may include author descriptions or accolades, review quotes or author endorsements, series number/title, etc).
Please note: this product is not an instant download. After you have submitted the Book Details Form (available here), your cover will be finalized and a proof version (watermarked) will be sent to you. Once you approve the final cover, all necessary unwatermarked files will be sent to you via email or a shared Dropbox link.
As you may be required by your publishing platform to indicate whether any generative AI has been used to create your book’s cover image, you should be aware of the following:
- Generative AI is used in many RCS designs;
- It is used to generate imagery only;
- AI-generated images are then edited in Photoshop by the (human) designer, who also designs all typographical elements without use of AI;
- Stock images are also used for some cover designs (but you do not need to declare this to your publishing platform);
- RCS understands and shares some ethical concerns about the use of generative AI, but sees it as an effective tool, just as stock images and Photoshop are tools designers use to achieve a professional and unique result. Principally, it is used to overcome the limitations imposed by the use of stock images;
- RCS attempts to use generative AI models that have been trained ethically (e.g. by compensating artists); however, this is ultimately beyond our control;
- If you do not wish to have any AI-generated imagery used on your cover, there are many designers who indicate on their websites that they do not use AI tools.
All titles and author names are fictitious and used for demonstration purposes only. Any similarity to existing books is purely coincidental.
Some minor changes to font size and placement of text may be required to accommodate the length of your book’s title/author name/series title, etc.
